Scrippy is a BBEdit extension that will compile and run AppleScript™. In the spirit of 'bare bones' it isn't fancy but it gets the job done. The name Scrippy is from my friend John's dog, Skippy, who was capable of walking on his hind legs for extended periods of time. Scrippy can't perform those kinds of tricks but, like a dog, it will do anything you ask ... without question.

When you activate Scrippy it will retrieve the front most window's text, compile it, and run it. If the text doesn't compile then Scrippy will inform you and change the BBEdit selection to indicate where the problem is. Note that you get will get more information about compiler errors if the text you are Scrippy-ing is located in a saved file.
If an error occurs while the script is running you will be notified but there will be no indication of where or what went wrong - remember, this is bare bones! As you known the power of AppleScript™ allows you to do just about anything in a script. Consequently, Scrippy cannot be held responsible when something bad happens.
Scrippy is pretty quick, except for the first time you run it. The first time Scrippy needs to link up with AppleScript™ and that takes a just a little while. After that initial run you will find Scrippy to be as quick and responsive as a dog looking for that treat at the end of a trick.
